Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder 2012
As predicted earlier by CAR, here is the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder – essentially an open-top Balboni. It’s a rear-wheel drive Gallardo roadster and will cost £158,797.60 in the UK. We love that 60 pence bit of the price tag! With the Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder, we are expanding the Lamborghini line-up with a purist model that adds yet another dimension of driving fun,’ said Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. This will appeal in particular to a very special group of customers that enjoy a spirited driving style and also like to experience the sheer pleasure of open- air driving. This special model with rear-wheel drive is a logical expansion of our line-up of spyder models with all-wheel drive. Read more: Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder 2012

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder 2009
From the first day Lamborghini announced its new and improved Gallardo LP560-4, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it was only a question of time until the Gallardo Spyder received the same treatment. Like the coupe, the LP560-4 Spyder loses 44 lb and gets 200 cc added to its V-10 engine — a new, 5.2L aluminum unit with 552 hp, 398 lb-ft on tap. Mated to the updated engine is Lambo’s reprogrammed e.gear six-speed transmission that Lamborghini claims shifts 40% faster in the sportiest "corsa" mode. The improvements led to a claimed 0-to-62-mph time of 4.0 sec and a top speed of 201 mph for the LP560-4 Spyder according to the automaker. At the same time, Lamborghini points out that both fuel economy and CO2 emissions are substantially improved. The outgoing Gallardo Spyder achieved 10/15 mpg with the stick and 10/16 mpg with the e.gear, but the LP560-4 gets 12/20 with the stick and 13/20 with the e.gear. Impressive numbers for a supercar. Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder 2006
The new Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder features a number of important modifications to the original engine and transmission from the Coupe. The 10-cylinder 4961 cc propulsion unit now develops 520 bhp at 8,000 rpm. The six-speed gearbox now has lower ratios (1st gear is 27% lower, 2nd gear is 13%, 3rd / 4th / 5th gears are all 6% lower, while 6th gear is 3.5% lower), which create a more dynamic performance. Like the other models in the range, the Gallardo Spyder also benefits from aluminum bodywork and features permanent four-wheel drive. And finally, its performance figures: the Gallardo Spyder – which complies with EURO 4 homologation standards – reaches a top speed of 314 km/h with the roof up and 307 km/h with the roof down, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds.
