Hyundai Sonata Convertible 2011

With Hyundai’s entry into unexpected market segments in the past year with its Genesis Coupe and Equus, Hyundai is expected to expand its Sonata line. It’s expected that the shapely sedan would give rise to a coupe and to a convertible as well. Sources say that Hyundai is currently developing the Sonata convertible. This move would be well-timed especially since production for the Toyota Solara has stopped while Chrysler-Fiat is rumored to be thinking about ending the Sebring’s run for good. These renderings show that the droptop Sonata has a simple, cost-effective cloth top with a built-in, body-color tonneau cover. Buyers can opt for a simple windblocker but to make this vehicle more affordable, it’s unlikely that Hyundai will design its own AirScarf system.  Most likely – if built – the convertible version will feature the same engines as the sedan: a 200-horsepower 2.4-liter inline-4 as in the SE model or the 274-hp 2.0-liter turbo from the 2.0T model. A power-folding fabric top will be used instead of a retractable hardtop. Read more: Hyundai Sonata Convertible 2011
