At the 2008 Bologna Motor Show, Covini showed a Spider version of their 6-wheeled supercar. We first got a glimpse of this model as a coupe four years ago, but now Ferruccio Covini has updated his ecentric design. Along with a new open-air cockpit and softop, the Spider has new engine cover. Furthermore the Audi V8 engine has been updated to produce 440ps. Other minor differences include slightly larger tires and new wheels. Now, the Italian company is making another splash with a more powerful topless version of the car. While the unusual six-wheeled rocket wowed readers last week with its claims of superior traction and braking, Covini wasn’t done yet. The company has now released the first images and specifications for a roadster model that promises to be even more extreme than the original car. Where the hardtop C6W got its heartbeat from a 380-hp Audi 4.2L V-8, Covini says it has found another 54 ponies hiding somewhere in the engine and unleashed them on the C6W Spider. With 434 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque (up from 331 lb-ft originally) now on tap and a curb weight that’s likely to still be in the 2500-lb. range, the roadster will likely blow away the hardtop car and its claimed near 200 mph top speed.
